A new upscale rental community is coming to Cherry Hill under a long-awaited project by developers Sterling Properties and Bob Dale.
The developers announced Thursday that they have broken ground on what is their latest venture, a 152-unit complex to be known as Evan’s Mill. The community will feature townhome-style apartments, along with single-level residences in three-story elevator buildings.
The property sits at the intersection of Brace and Kresson roads, with proximity to the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate 295 and Route 70, the builders said in a news release. Site improvements are now underway and leasing is expected to begin next summer.
“We’re thrilled to finally launch Evan’s Mill, which has been years in the making,” Nick Hollenbeck, director of sales and marketing for Sterling Properties, said in a prepared statement. “We believe Evan’s Mill will quickly be recognized as the premier rental community in the South Jersey and suburban Philadelphia markets and expect this community to stand out for several reasons.”
Hollenbeck cited the property’s location 10 miles from Philadelphia and proximity to downtown Haddonfield, along with the retail offerings of Cherry Hill. He said he believes the community will appeal to everyone from “young professionals seeking their first apartment to more established locals downsizing from larger homes.”
The community will rise in place of a former building supply store in Cherry Hill, according to the Courier-Post. The newspaper said the project drew some opposition during its planning stages, amid concerns over density and its impact on traffic, but that a state appeals court ruled in favor of the developers last summer to end a legal challenge to the developers.
Evan’s Mill will feature units ranging from 795 to 1,449 square feet, with nine-foot ceilings and open floorplans, the news release said. Kitchens will have high-end finishes, while residents will have access to amenities such as a state-of-the-art clubhouse and outdoor pool, fully equipped fitness center, yoga room and indoor and outdoor entertainment areas.
The community will connect by walking trails to the Croft Farm Arts Center and the Cooper River park system at Challenge Grove Park, the news release said.
