The developers of two luxury apartment buildings in downtown Rahway recently welcomed the city’s mayor to mark the completion of the 225-unit project known as The Mint.
Principals of the firms, Fields Grade and Slokker USA, hosted the May 11 ribbon-cutting as they touted strong leasing activity at the second phase. The developers at the time had rented 70 percent of the 109-unit building at 84 Monroe St., which includes a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes and upscale amenities a block south of Rahway’s NJ Transit station.
“We are very excited to welcome The Mint to Rahway to provide current and future Rahway residents with a modern, residential living space in our community while highlighting the continued economic growth and development of our great city,” Rahway Mayor Raymond A. Giacobbe Jr. said during a ceremony that came two months after the launch of leasing.
The Marketing Directors is leasing agent for the property, which was designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners. The latter also collaborated with Factioned on the project’s interior design.
“We’d like to thank Mayor Giacobbe, members of the Rahway Redevelopment Agency and other municipal officials for joining us today to mark this milestone occasion,” said Nils Berten, VP USA of Slokker USA. “Their foresight and vision made possible the transformation of an underutilized parking lot and retail storefronts into a signature residential community that has greatly enhanced the downtown streetscape.”
Robert Giannone, director of development for Fields Grade, added: “The Mint is a shining example of how a municipality and developer working hand-in-hand can responsibly deliver a building that improves the community-at-large by adding quality homes and supportive retail. We’re incredibly excited to officially open the doors on the second rental building which is quickly filling up with residents eager to enjoy the vibrant downtown Rahway lifestyle.”
