Lloyd A. Rosenberg and Pradeep Kapoor
By Joshua Burd
DMR Architects has named a new CEO and president for the first time in its 32-year history, with industry veteran Pradeep Kapoor taking the reins from founder Lloyd A. Rosenberg.
The Hasbrouck Heights-based firm, the third-largest architectural enterprise in the state, said Kapoor assumes the new post effective immediately. He rises from the role of chief operating officer, while Rosenberg will remain active in strategic initiatives in the newly created position of chairman.
Kapoor joined DMR in 2001 and was among several employees who were named partners with the firm in 2017 as part of a long-term succession plan.
“Lloyd’s visionary leadership has not only shaped the identity of our firm — it has fostered an environment of creativity and excellence,” Kapoor said. “His guidance has left an indelible mark and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to build upon the remarkable legacy he has created.”
In a news release, DMR cited Rosenberg’s strategy of integrating design, planning and construction management services as a key factor in its growth over the past three decades. Its practice spans several key sectors in New Jersey, including municipal planning, residential, public, education and health care, while it’s known for its work in public-private partnerships, design-build programs and its use of technology in design and construction management.
The firm’s notable projects of late include its redesign of the bergenPAC and its redevelopment and planning work in more than 20 communities such as East Brunswick, Hackensack and Paramus, as well as dozens of school projects including more than $100 million of improvements in Edison. Kapoor, for his part, has held several roles and managed many of DMR’s most complex design and construction projects, having focused primarily on the municipal, health care and education practices, while building a strong niche in sustainable design.
“Pradeep has grown immensely during his years at DMR and it is very gratifying to see him assume control of the day-to-day operations of the firm,” Rosenberg said. “The culture of DMR has continuously evolved, but threshold moments like this are rare in any firm. It is especially important to me that the partners are collaborating not only in selecting a new leader but in directing the future of the firm.
“DMR is at the all-time height of its productivity and influence in the marketplace and is on the precipice of becoming an even greater version of itself.”
DMR’s other partners include Francis Reiner, Kurt Vierheilig and Charles H. Sarlo.
