Doren Development has acquired a historic mixed-use building in downtown Rutherford, where it has kicked off renovations to restore and modernize the landmark property.
Known as the Handler Building, the site at 104 Park Ave. is home to three retail storefronts and four residential units, according to the Passaic-based firm. The renovations will result in two revitalized commercial spaces of roughly 1,000 square feet each that will be available for lease in the second quarter of 2026, offering what the company said was an exceptional opportunity to join one of Bergen County’s most dynamic downtown corridors.
The updates, which also include façade improvements, will preserve the building’s original character.
“We’re proud to breathe new life into one of Rutherford’s most recognizable downtown buildings,” said Richard Doren III, director of land acquisition with Doren Development. “This project reflects our commitment to preserving history while creating opportunity for today’s retailers.”
