A kitchen cabinet wholesaler is moving from Brooklyn to Elizabeth, where it has signed a full-building, 75,000-square-foot lease with Elberon Development Group.
The tenant, Major Kitchen Cabinet Inc., is expanding by 35,000 square feet as part of its relocation to 502 York St. The lease begins later this year, Elberon said, providing the business with space for both assembly and distribution.
“The pandemic has certainly caused significant upheaval in every aspect of our lives,” said Terry Armstrong, Elberon’s senior vice president of leasing and acquisitions. “Yet despite the many challenges we face conducting day-to-day business, this deal proves that transactions can get done when both parties are motivated to close.”
In a news release, the family-owned commercial real estate firm said 502 York St. features 20,000 square feet of lower ceiling space and another 50,000 square feet with 22-foot clear ceiling heights. Major Kitchen Cabinet will use the lower ceiling area for assembly and the high bay section for distribution.
Elberon, which is also based in Elizabeth, acquired the building in 2015, the news release said. With the previous tenant vacating and Major Kitchen Cabinet scheduled to move in, the firm was able to launch a series of capital improvements that include the installation of a new roof, new LED lighting, new pavement and a complete renovation of the 5,000-square-foot office area.
Major Kitchen Cabinet is relocating from 150 52nd in Brooklyn.
