Murphy Schiller & Wilkes LLP has further bolstered its team of real estate attorneys with the addition of Thomas S. Garlick as counsel and Robert M. Lyons as an associate.
Based in Newark, the firm said Garlick will focus his practice in the area of real estate development and will represent clients throughout New Jersey with land use, zoning and redevelopment projects. He’ll also advise clients in connection with obtaining property tax exemptions, including payment in lieu of taxes agreements, and tax credits under the state Economic Development Authority’s Aspire program.
Garlick previously worked at one of New Jersey’s top full-service law firms, MSW said. He received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College.
Lyons, part of MSW’s construction law and litigation practice groups, will represent developers, owners, contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, architects, engineers and surveyors across a range of matters in the commercial real estate and construction industries. Those areas include contract disputes, delay claims, defective construction claims, design negligence and shareholder disputes in both state and federal courts.
Prior to joining MSW, Lyons worked at a national litigation firm in New York City, according to a news release. He received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Providence College.
“We are incredibly excited to have Tom and Robert join our growing team,” said Chris J. Murphy, a founding partner of the firm. “They both bring significant experience to their respective practice groups, and fully understand our commitment to providing exceptional legal services to our diverse array of clients.”
