A new luxury apartment building by JMF Properties is nearing completion in Morris Plains, where plans call for 125 units and a new connection to the borough’s downtown.
The developer on Monday said it will launch leasing in early 2023 for the project, located at 1000 The American Road, offering units as large as 1,390 square feet and more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space. Known as The American, the site is also less than a mile from two retail properties that JMF and its partners are developing: the 140,000-square-foot Morris Marketplace and Cedar Village, where a new 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station is rising on a property anchored by Lowe’s Home Improvement.
The firm, meantime, has completed a new walkway that connects The American to downtown Morris Plains, providing residents with direct access to a mix of shops, restaurants and NJ Transit commuter rail service.
“We are happy to announce that The American will make its debut in early 2023, bringing an entirely new type of luxury housing to Morris Plains,” said Joe Forgione, founder and principal of JMF Properties. “The American will feature an exceptional location near the train station and charming downtown shops and restaurants, which we were able to enhance by providing direct pedestrian access from The American Road to downtown Morris Plains, where no connection was previously available.
“In today’s market, with new-construction suburban rentals in high demand, we believe this will be a popular choice for Morris County renters, as well as an important asset for the Morris Plains community for many years to come.”
The American is slated to include upscale one- and two-bedroom homes, including den layouts and private outdoor space in select units, according to a news release. Amenities will include a high-end fitness center with Matrix equipment and a separate personal training studio, plus and a business center with a coffee bar, conference rooms and private enclosed workspaces.
Plans also call for a second-floor lounge with a fireplace and a coffee bar, a theater room and a golf simulator, among others. Outdoors, residents will have access to a firepit, grills and several landscaped spaces.
JMF, meantime, noted that the site is 2.5 miles from downtown Morristown and other attractions, while the firm’s Morris Marketplace will soon welcome tenants such as Burlington, Lidl, Starbucks, Restore Wellness and a host of others. The retail center will also have a children’s play areas, pocket parks, splash pads, seating areas, outdoor dining areas and other active and passive recreation spaces.
The American is minutes from interstates 287 and 80 and routes 202, 24 and 10.
