Investment manager Lord Abbett & Co. LLC has opened its new global headquarters in Jersey City, where it occupies more than 178,000 square feet built out by JT Magen.
According to the construction manager, the project at 30 Hudson St. provided Lord Abbett with a right-sized space that emphasizes natural light, enhanced collaboration and employee amenities, along with areas for socializing. The five-story office also offers elegant venues for hosting clients as well as meetings of senior leadership for a company that also has offices in London and Dublin.
JT Magen oversaw all aspects of the project, from budgeting and scheduling, procurement of materials, managing subcontractors and conducting the final handover upon completion, according to a news release. HLW served as architect and interior designer, while AMA Group was the MEP engineer.

“Lord, Abbett & Co.’s new office in Jersey City illustrates the continued movement of financial services firms away from traditional office layouts, instead opting for more open work and collaboration areas,” said Jay Rimatzki, a senior project manager at JT Magen who led construction management for Lord Abbett. “The firm’s new space is designed to foster collaboration, with a strong focus on amenity-rich environments. This shift mirrors workplace design trends where companies prioritize spaces that enhance employee wellbeing, collaboration and adaptability, aligning with the evolving needs of the workforce.”
JT Magen noted that Lord Abbett relocated from 90 Hudson St., where it kept roughly 239,000 square feet across five floors for more than two decades. The new 178,107-square-foot work environment has executive offices, open work areas, multipurpose conference rooms and a production studio for podcasts, videos webinars and other digital content creation, as well as an auditorium, a game room, a fitness lounge and training rooms.
The Exchange, a double-height space on the 40th floor, acts as the main amenity area and features a commercial cooking kitchen, event areas, an audio/visual booth and a café with a barista bar and grab-and-go options, the news release said. A staircase clad in stone sits on the northeast corner and connects the upper three floors, while the space has millwork paneling throughout and a series of unique wallcoverings.
