A developer has acquired the site of a vacant building in Plainfield that will become part of a planned residential project, in a deal arranged by Kassin Sabbagh Realty.
The buyer, SK Development, paid $4.25 million for the 54,000-square-foot property at 130‑40 East 5th St., according to a news release. The parcel is now set to be integrated into a larger residential assemblage at the high‑visibility intersection of Cleveland Avenue, the brokers said, touting its proximity to downtown Plainfield and mass transit.
Kassin Sabbagh Realty’s Ohad Babo represented both the seller, a Brooklyn-based family office, and the buyer, a firm led by Scott Shnay and David Manheimer. The team said development plans, including design and timeline details, will be announced in the coming months.
“We’re thrilled to support a project that brings transit‑oriented housing to Plainfield’s downtown,” said Babo, a director at KSR. “The property’s location — just steps from NJ Transit — offers future residents excellent access to Manhattan and greater New York City, making it an ideal site for a modern, connected residential development.”
