LeFrak has signed a nearly 185,000-square-foot lease renewal with Fidelity Investments, a longtime tenant at one of the developer’s Jersey City office towers.
The financial services firm, which is based in Boston, has occupied space at LeFrak’s 499 Washington Blvd. since 2012. It’s among the many tenants at the 14-story, 550,000-square-foot structure in the acclaimed Newport district, where tenants are steps from mass transit and just across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan.
The leasing team included LeFrak’s Meredith Jackness and Ray Kawas and CBRE’s Howard Fiddle, Greg Barkan, Erin Wenzler and Ben Joseph, according to the landlord. CBRE’s Patrick Cavanagh and Matthew Saker represented the tenant.
“Fidelity’s long-term commitment to 499 Washington Boulevard, following Bank of America’s recent Jersey City consolidation at Newport Tower, is further evidence that Newport continues to thrive as a 24/7 mixed-use community and provides a fantastic option for global and Fortune 500 companies who are looking to prioritize top-tier buildings, wellbeing, accessibility, convenience and robust amenities underpin by strong and stable ownership,” said Kawas, director of commercial real estate with LeFrak.
With views of the Manhattan skyline, 499 Washington Blvd. has amenities such as a high-end fitness center, a host of modern meeting spaces and a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Los Cuernos Mexican Restaurant on the ground floor. It also has on-site parking and is steps from the Newport PATH station, along with the many other dining, retail and residential offerings of the sprawling Newport neighborhood.
