A restaurant is coming to the base of a newly updated residential building in downtown Newark, under a lease arranged by brokers with The Blau & Berg Co.
According to the firm, Delta’s Newark will occupy 8,500 square feet at 810 Broad St. under a long-term commitment with Broad Street Ventures Urban Renewal. The establishment will mark the second location for the longtime operator of Delta’s Restaurant in New Brunswick, helping to anchor what is now an apartment building with nearly 100 micro-units, following the conversion of a former hotel.
Blau & Berg’s Christian Benedetto Jr. represented Delta’s, while the firm’s Jason Crimmins, Alessandro (Alex) Conte, Michael Schipper and Peter J. Murano Jr. represented ownership. The operator’s new home is also part of a historic building constructed in 1912, serving initially as the headquarters of First National State Bank before being repurposed in 2014 to become the Hotel Indigo.
Last May, a financing team detailed plans by an affiliate of Manhattan-based Winchester Equities to purchase and renovate 810 Broad St., creating Newark’s first micro-apartment building.
