The strength of the New Jersey Builders Association was on display last week as the organization hosted a record-setting fundraiser for its influential political action committee.
The annual event, the Summer Soiree, drew a large crowd to the Highlawn in West Orange for a program that will ensure that the homebuilding industry is heard in Trenton and beyond, NJBA said. That’s especially critical in a gubernatorial election year, as the group pushes for a policy environment that fosters growth, affordability and opportunity.
“The enthusiasm in the room and outpouring of support was proof that our industry is committed to shaping a better environment for builders and developers across the state and I could not be more thankful to our supporters,” said Devra Goldberg, chair of the New Jersey Builders Political Action Committee or BPAC.

Debra Tantleff, NJBA chair and BPAC vice chair, added: “Each of our attendees and sponsors that helped us hold a record-breaking event this year demonstrates our industry’s substantial political engagement and commitment to supporting candidates that champion pro-housing policies. Housing affordability continues to be a growing political issue and will remain a top concern for our members and voters.”
In a news release, NJBA noted that the Summer Soiree has grown steadily in recent years to become a marquee event that unites leaders from across the state’s homebuilding industry.
“We want elected officials in office who understand that we must remedy our massive housing supply shortage, and we must begin the dialogue around ways to restructure how we provide housing and homeownership opportunities to improve the state’s housing ecosystem and maximize the economic, social and societal benefits it can provide,” NJBA CEO Jeff Kolakowski said.
