A pharmaceutical company has selected SJP Properties to manage the build-out of its new 300,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters in Nutley.
SJP Project Solutions, the firm’s third-party development management division, said Tuesday that it will work on behalf of Eisai Inc. as it relocates to modern, high-end office space at Prism Capital Partners’ ON3 campus. As part of the process, SJP will work alongside Prism on base-building improvements and with architecture firms HLW and AMA, which are designing the new space at 200 Metro Blvd.
The Japanese drug maker is slated to move up to 1,200 corporate staff and research and development functions, under a lease that was announced last summer. The company is relocating from Woodcliff Lake.
“Continued and constant growth of the health care ecosystem is essential during these challenging times,” said Joel Beetsch, vice president of corporate affairs at Eisai Inc. “The combination of health care innovation and the knowledge-creating space in which it takes place is a critical and powerful partnership. Eisai deeply appreciates the expertise of SJP to help drive the delivery of health care solutions to patients and their families.”

SJP said that Eisai, an oncology- and neurology-focused pharmaceutical company, expects its new U.S. headquarters to reflect a corporate philosophy centered on the key role that patients, their families and consumers all play in health care. To that end, its new space at ON3’s flagship office building will prioritizes safety, collaboration and innovation.
“As a company that is on the leading edge of the life sciences sector, Eisai was discerning and deliberate in its process for assembling a team to deliver a purpose-built headquarters that will be additive to its operations and facilitate employees’ invaluable work,” said Peter Bronsnick, SJP’s New Jersey region president. “Now, more than ever, making real estate decisions with your workforce’s well-being in mind is crucial for business continuity, and Eisai is the perfect example of a company that is leading from the front in this regard.”
