The new 90,000-square-foot Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center has opened its doors at ON3, Prism Capital Partners’ signature mixed-use campus in Nutley and Clifton.
Designed by Gensler, the four-story facility sits at the corner of Metro Boulevard and Route 3, offering what Prism described as an end-to-end, hospitality-driven patient experience. That includes primary care, urgent care, rheumatology, gastroenterology, nephrology and orthopedic practices, helping to expand health care access in Passaic County and the region, as well as Hackensack Meridian Health’s presence on the 116-acre property.
ON3 is also home to Hackensack School of Medicine and the Hackensack Meridian Health Center for Discovery and Innovation.
“Hackensack Meridian Health has established a symbiotic hub of learning, innovation and, now, patient care excellence at ON3,” said Eugene Diaz, a principal partner with Prism. “We are incredibly proud of our evolving partnership and its significance for the community.”
Prism Construction Management developed the Health & Wellness Center, which has a distinctive glass curtain wall façade, double-height entry and daylight-enriched spaces, according to a news release. There’s also an attached parking structure with ample space for occupants and visitors.
In addition to primary and specialty care, the facility offers occupational health services through Hackensack Meridian Works and early detection services by the Hennessy Institute for Cancer Prevention & Applied Molecular Medicine, the news release said. Later this year, the center also plans to offer advanced imaging, retail pharmacy and cardiology.
“We were thrilled to work with Prism and Hackensack Meridian Health to design a facility that’s bringing high quality health care closer to communities,” said Christopher Korsh, Gensler’s New York health care practice area leader. “As generational demand for health care grows, Hackensack Meridian Health & Wellness Center at Clifton provides patients with a variety of services and specialties centrally located to support every type of health journey.”
The news comes a week after Prism announced that it had secured three key approvals for ON3 that would pave the way for new phases, including a long-awaited residential component with nearly 1,100 multifamily units, along with a major research and development facility. The entitlements also allow for some 90,000 square feet of additional retail space and another use such as a major data center, helping to complete the firm’s plan to reinvent the former Hoffmann-La Roche complex on Route 3.
Since acquiring the property in 2016, the developer has attracted a host of blue-chip office tenants alongside major health care, life sciences and academic users, having already spearheaded investments of more than $500 million. Prism estimates an additional $500 million will be spent to complete the full build-out of the campus vision plan.
