A sushi chain has opened a new location at Freehold Raceway Mall, its sixth in New Jersey, continuing an expansion in the region led by brokers with RIPCO Real Estate.
According to the leasing team, Kura Sushi occupies 3,692 square feet in a front-facing location at 3710 Route 9. The revolving sushi belt concept debuted earlier this fall, according to the Asbury Park Press, replacing another restaurant that shifted to the mall’s food court.
RIPCO Vice President Alison Horbach represented Kura Sushi in the lease and in securing the brand’s five other locations in New Jersey. They include Paramus, Cherry Hill, Edison, Fort Lee and Jersey City, while the Freehold restaurant marks its 81st in the United States.
The operator, Kura Sushi USA Inc., describes itself as a pioneer of the revolving sushi concept that combines advanced technology, premium ingredients and affordable prices to enhance the unique dining experience. The company launched in 2008 as a subsidiary of Kura Sushi Inc., which opened its first restaurant in 1977 and has more than 550 locations across Japan, Taiwan and the U.S.
