Joseph DeMarco has joined Scarinci Hollenbeck LLC as a partner, bolstering its real estate, land use and public practices with a veteran attorney and municipal administrator.
The firm, which is based in Little Falls, announced the move Wednesday while touting DeMarco’s significant experience leading complex, large-scale development projects and his more than 20 years of service to public and private entities. That includes his tenure as Somerset County counsel and past positions as municipal administrator for Bayonne and West New York, meaning he has been directly involved in the redevelopment and governance issues that shape New Jersey communities.
He also represented private developers, investors and businesses in land use, real estate transactions and regulatory compliance, Scarinci said, noting that the dual background allows him to anticipate challenges, navigate local politics and deliver practical solutions for projects of any scale.
“Having worked both in government and alongside private developers, I’ve seen firsthand how complex and time-sensitive redevelopment projects can be,” DeMarco said. “Joining Scarinci Hollenbeck’s real estate team gives me the opportunity to put that experience to work in a way that helps clients navigate challenges and achieve their vision for transformative projects. I am excited to bring my unique perspective to the team.”
The firm added that DeMarco will advise clients on complex real estate transactions with a particular focus on redevelopment initiatives. He is well-versed in all facets of the process, from negotiating financial and redevelopment agreements to securing zoning and planning approvals and guiding projects through execution.
“Joe DeMarco is a deal maker. Make no doubt about it,” Scarinci Hollenbeck Managing Partner Donald Scarinci said. “Land use regulations, municipal ordinances and politics are often central to the success of New Jersey real estate transactions, areas in which Joe brings extensive experience. His hands-on redevelopment experience, industry insight and commitment to public service are a tremendous asset to the firm.”
DeMarco’s arrival comes at a time of significant growth for the firm’s real estate practice. It also recently welcomed Partner Ryan Miller and his team of three attorneys to its New York-based team, further strengthening its depth across litigation, redevelopment, zoning and land use matters.
