An investment firm has acquired a former manufacturing building in New Brunswick and plans to convert it to a self-storage facility, according to brokers with Sheldon Gross Realty.
The West Orange-based brokerage firm said it represented the seller of 1007 Jersey Ave., a 50,000-square-foot building, in the $2.7 million transaction. The buyer, Macritchie Storage, specializes in acquiring properties and retrofitting them.
Executive Vice President Jonathan Glick handled the assignment for Sheldon Gross Realty. In a news release, the firm noted that Glick represented the same client some 20 years ago when it purchased the facility, which housed a soap manufacturing operation and sits on nearly four acres.
“I’d initially thought this property would be purchased by another manufacturer, but it turned out to be an excellent fit for Macritchie Storage,” Glick said. “The location is ideal for them, and the building’s footprint is well-suited to their specific needs.”
