SJP Properties and Life Time, the national fitness operator, have unveiled plans for what they say will be a first-of-its-kind health and entertainment complex at a Bridgewater office campus.
The companies on Wednesday detailed plans for Life Time’s new 130,000-square-foot athletic resort destination at Somerset Corporate Center, which will provide new programs and services for both tenants and area residents. The announcement follows the sale of the development site within the 1.2 million-square-foot, Class A complex.
It also comes after the sale of separate parcel on the campus, which has paved the way for the construction of an upscale 150-room AC Hotels by Marriott and a Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar. Collectively, the projects are part of SJP’s effort to create new offerings at the five-building campus, which is already home to many high-profile companies.
“With the sale of this site to Life Time, we’re adding another world-class amenity to Somerset Corporate Center, which is already widely regarded as the premier business address in New Jersey,” Steven J. Pozycki, founder and CEO of SJP Properties, said in a prepared statement. “The ability to provide employees with a superior work-life balance is paramount to many of our tenants, and the healthy and active lifestyle programming offered by Life Time is unparalleled.”
Life Time Athletic at Somerset Corporate Center will include an outdoor tennis complex, an outdoor and indoor aquatic center with zero-depth entry pools, lap pools, waterslides and an indoor basketball court, according to a news release. The new center also will offer highly personalized programs and services that allow members to achieve their health objectives, athletic aspirations and fitness goals.
SJP said there will also be dance, art, music and tumbling studios available for children, along with basketball courts, indoor and outdoor cafes and a full-service salon and spa.
Located at routes 202/206 and 22, Somerset Corporate Center is home to several marquee tenants, including Linde Americas, iconectiv, Mazda and Kering Eyewear. SJP announced early this year that the campus had reached full occupancy with a 30,882-square-foot expansion by Qualcomm at Somerset Corporate Center V, bringing the tech firm’s total footprint to 156,294 square feet.
The campus also offers proximity to Newark International Airport and is directly across from the nearly 1 million-square-foot Bridgewater Commons Mall. Tenants at Somerset Corporate Center have quick access to interstates 287 and 78, along with nearby public transportation options such as the Somerville train station.
