A growing chain focused on smoothies and acai bowls is adding new locations in Essex and Ocean counties, following three transactions arranged by The Goldstein Group.
The retail brokerage said Monday that it represented the chain, Playa Bowls, in new leases in Montclair, Millburn and Brick. Chuck Lanyard, president of The Goldstein Group, said the operator now has nine locations and is “actively looking” to increase its presence in the state.
Goldstein Group Sales Associate Marc Palestina represented Playa Bowls in all three deals, while also serving as the landlord broker in Millburn. Richard J. Curran and Christopher Conway, sales associates with the Paramus-based brokerage, represented the landlord in Brick.
In Montclair, Playa Bowls leased 1,133 square feet at 19 Church St. in a location just off Bloomfield Ave., Goldstein Group said in a news release. Neighboring tenants include Chase Bank, New York Sports Club, Urban Outfitters, CVS, and Bow Tie Cinemas.
In Brick, the company leased 1,870 square feet at Brownstone Square on Mantoloking Road. The corner location features ample parking with convenient access to the Garden State Parkway.
The Millburn location is 1,200 square feet space at 329 Millburn Ave., the news release said. Neighboring tenants include Starbucks, PNC Bank, Red Mango and Dunkin Donuts
Playa Bowls originated in Belmar and is known for custom fresh smoothies and acai bowls, the news release said. The latter, which consists of thick smoothie bowls that are eaten with a spoon, features a host of health benefits due to the presence of superfoods.
