A new SuperFresh has opened its doors in Irvington in a space once occupied by Pathmark.
In a news release, Eastman Cos. announced the opening of the 48,720-square-foot store at Lyons Plaza. The firm is the owner of the 78,000-square-foot shopping center in partnership with
Samuel Pepper of Metropolitan Mortgage & Realty Inc. and the Arlyn/Lysar Cos.
Florian Suserman and Stephanie Harris of Ripco Real Estate Corp. represented the landlord, while David Brecher and Robert Capatina of Space Realty Services Inc. represented Key Food Stores, the operator of the SuperFresh.
“We look forward to providing shoppers with the variety, freshness and quality for which Key Food is known, along with exceptional levels of customer service,” James Lee, the store’s general manager, said in a prepared statement. “Lyons Plaza’s Essex County location presented a wonderful opportunity to create a grocery environment where those who live and work in the community can shop comfortably and also benefit from prices that are more competitive than other supermarkets in the area.”
Located at the intersection of Lyons Avenue in Irvington and Fabyan Place in Newark, Lyons Plaza includes a mix of national, regional and local retailers, the news release said. They include KicksUSA, GameStop, Rent-a-Center, Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill and Macy Beauty Supply.
“We are thrilled to welcome SuperFresh to Lyons Plaza,” said Peter Schofel, Eastman’s managing partner. “The store fills a void left by the closing of Pathmark, and in a very short period of time has generated considerable community excitement as well as increased consumer traffic to the center.
“This is a strong and successful grocery operator that knows how to accommodate the communities in which its stores are located. We are confident SuperFresh will contribute to the ongoing success of the center for years to come.”
