The gourmet toast, juice and coffee bar concept known as Toastique is coming to Morristown, where a team of franchisees will open a new downtown location in just over a week.
Operated by Benson and Oby Otti, the owners of Health, Love & Soul Juice Bar and Grill in Maplewood, the shop at 70 Speedwell Ave. will be among three new franchises that the couple plans to launch in the area. The Morristown location is slated to open Aug. 2, occupying ground-floor retail space at the new Valley Bank headquarters developed by SJP Properties and across from the Hyatt Regency Morristown.
“Our journey with Toastique began with a personal alignment of values,” said Oby Otti, who holds a Ph.D. in public health and continues her work in clinical research. “We sought a franchise that not only championed healthy living but also delivered on exceptional taste and aesthetic appeal. Every Toastique item, from our gourmet toasts to our vibrant smoothie bowls, truly is as delicious and beautiful as it looks.”
Oby will maintain her professional endeavors, while Benson will be at the helm of Toastique Morristown full time, according to a news release. They said they envision the shop as a generational family business, with plans to involve their three children in an enterprise that’s poised to serve the town’s growing population of residents and daytime workers.
They added that their Nigerian cultural roots will subtly grace the café’s décor alongside a unique mural created by local artist Olga Muzician, which celebrates Morristown landmarks like the Morristown United Methodist Church, the Speedwell Lake Park dam and the beloved Morristown Green.
“We’re excited to offer a menu that caters to diverse preferences, with gluten-free and vegetarian options and kid-friendly favorites like our son’s beloved PB Crunch, ensuring there’s something delightful for everyone,” Benson said.
Founded in 2018 by former Division I collegiate cheerleader Brianna Keefe, Toastique has franchise locations in nearly 20 states and several in New Jersey, including Chatham, Hoboken, Ridgewood and Stone Harbor.
“New Jersey has consistently proven to be an incredibly receptive market for Toastique, becoming one of our strongest states for expansion,” said Keefe, the company’s CEO. “Morristown, with its vibrant community and focus on wellbeing, is an ideal home for our brand. As we grow throughout the state, our mission remains the same — to make healthy eating, approachable, accessible and enjoyable for all. We are eager to integrate seamlessly into the fabric of this dynamic neighborhood.”
