Wells, Jaworski & Liebman LLP has announced three key promotions, elevating Jennifer M. Berardo and Katie J. Razin to partner while naming Jameson P. Van Eck as an equity partner.
The Paramus-based firm said Berardo, who joined its team as an associate in 2021, concentrates her practice in land use, redevelopment, zoning, real estate, civil and commercial litigation and outdoor advertising. She represents residential, commercial and industrial developers seeking state approvals while handling all aspects of land entitlements, including lease negotiations, land acquisitions and divestitures and development applications before local, county and state governmental agencies.
Berardo previously served as the judicial law clerk to Superior Court Judge Thomas J. LaConte, sitting in Paterson, according to a news release. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
Razin, meantime, joined Wells Jaworski in 2022 as an associate, focusing on land use, zoning and municipal law while working in all facets of development, the firm said. With a longstanding practice working closely with client development teams and representing parties before local land use boards, she serves as counsel to corporate and private developers and objectors alike.
Additionally, Razin serves as a board attorney to planning and zoning boards throughout Hunterdon, Bergen and Union counties, the news release said. She is an associate editor of the Local Government Law Review, which is published quarterly by the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys, and is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and Washington, D.C.
As chairman of Wells Jaworski’s litigation department, Van Eck focuses on land use, development, real estate and construction matters, commercial and contract disputes, partnership disputes and several other areas. He also represents both developers and objectors before local planning and zoning boards and regularly represents parties in actions in lieu of prerogative writs challenging local land use decisions and other actions taken by municipal governing bodies.
What’s more, Van Eck serves as counsel to planning and zoning boards in North Jersey, the firm said. He joined the team in 2021 and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
“Our practice continues to grow as we represent developers and municipalities across not only New Jersey, but the region, more generally,” said Andrew Kohut, the firm’s managing partner. “Jenn, Katie and Jameson have all played important roles in our success, and we are excited to recognize their contributions.”
