A boutique fitness chain and a tutoring business have leased a combined 4,800 square feet in Short Hills, under a set of newly completed transactions by Cushman & Wakefield.
In the larger transaction, Blast Fitness committed to 2,800 square feet at The Plaza at Short Hills at Morris Turnpike and Broad Street, C&W said. The site will be the Atlanta-based operator’s first New Jersey location, featuring a fully stocked coed locker room, a metabolic profile room and studio-front parking.
C&W retail leasing specialists David Townes represented the tenant in the transaction.
“This commitment by Blast Fitness demonstrates the importance of fitness and health-related tenants in today’s retail environment,” Townes said. “This chain’s decision to open its first Garden State studio in Short Hills speaks to the center’s enviable surrounding demographics.”
The firm also announced Thursday that C2 Education, a network of subject tutoring and tutoring for standardized achievement tests, has leased 2,000 square feet at 750 Morris Turnpike. Slated to open this fall, the operator will join tenants including YB Fitness, Gym Source, Harmon Face Values and others.
Townes and C&W’s Alana Friedman represented ownership, while Gary Krauss of Pierson Commercial served as tenant broker.
“750 Morris Turnpike, in the heart of one of Essex County’s top-rated and most comprehensive public school systems, proved the ideal setting for expanding C2 Education’s Garden State presence,” Friedman said. “We are pleased to bring this valuable educational resource to students and families here and in the surrounding communities.”
