AvalonBay Communities Inc. has taken the wraps off its latest New Jersey project, debuting a new 350-unit luxury apartment property off Interstate 287 in Boonton.
The multifamily builder unveiled the community in mid-June, as elected officials joined members of the development team for a tour and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Known as Avalon Boonton, the property includes layouts ranging from studio to three-bedroom units, along with a host of amenities and upscale common spaces.
“AvalonBay is extremely pleased to commemorate the grand opening of our newest community in New Jersey, and grateful for the warm welcome we’ve received here in Boonton,” said Ron Ladell, a senior vice president with AvalonBay and the company’s lead executive in New Jersey. “AvalonBay prides itself on the quality of our communities, and we look forward to providing new Avalon Boonton residents with a truly remarkable living experience, combining award winning customer service that AvalonBay is known for with best-in-class amenities and a convenient location.”

Amenities at Avalon Boonton include a high-end fitness center with fitness-on-demand, a yoga studio and a free weight room, according to a news release. The property also features a large resident lounge, a pet spa and an expansive pool and pool deck.
The developer’s recent grand opening event drew Boonton Mayor Matthew DiLauri, along with aldermen Michael Eoga, Cy Wekilsky and Dr. William McBride and representatives from U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s office.
“What’s great about Boonton is that there are a lot of little ingredients that make Boonton a special place and AvalonBay we are now proud to call one of those ingredients,” DiLauri said. “We are really grateful that you chose us here and we are proud of the product that you have built and the economic development and that people will come here to shop our downtown and fall in love with our town and ultimately make Boonton their permanent home.
“So on behalf of the Board of Aldermen and Boonton, we want to congratulate you on this endeavor and wish you the best of luck.”
Avalon Boonton, which is directly off I-287 and minutes from the town’s train station, is the latest among several recently completed communities by the Arlington, Virginia-based developer. The company in recent years has completed projects in Piscataway, Edgewater and Princeton and will soon unveil another development in Teaneck.
Wekilsky, who is also a former mayor in Boonton, echoed the remarks of his successor in touting the project’s impact.
“Everything you said that you would do along the way, you did,” he said. “You guys came through and this is the end result and we thank you very much on behalf of the town. To follow the words of Mr. DiLauri, this is a big plus.”
