A restaurant group has expanded its footprint with a nearly 4,600-square-foot Spanish tapas eatery in northwest Hoboken, according to a brokerage team with Ripco Real Estate.
The location at 800 Jackson St. will mark the second for Sangria, which is occupying a pre-existing restaurant space. Ripco’s Daniel Zappala represented the tenant in the 4,585-square-foot deal, while Alana Friedman and David Townes of Cushman & Wakefield represented ownership.
Ripco added that Sangria also shares a parent company with another Hoboken restaurant, Pilsener Haus Biergarten on Grand Street. The new location on Jackson Street is part of the city’s burgeoning west side.
It was among three recent Hoboken deals announced by Ripco.
“We continue to see strong demand for retail space in Hoboken,” Zappala said. “During our leasing efforts we were engaged in conversation with potential tenants on a daily basis. The concentrated density of population, high foot traffic and mix of concepts already in the market provide a unique opportunity to retailers unlike that of a traditional shopping center.
“With new development in the pipeline, we are certainly in an exciting time for retail in Hoboken.”
Zappala and colleague Ripco’s Deborah Stone also represented ownership in a lease at 1000 Jefferson St., where Mobile Kangaroo is taking 675 square feet. Stone also represented the tenant, an Apple-authorized iPhone and Mac repair center has opened its first New Jersey location.
At 303 First St., The Whale Tea committed to 460 square feet, with Zappala and Stone representing the landlord, according to a news release. Stone also represented the occupier, a bubble tea café that is marking its seventh location and will provide grab-and-go options for locals and regular commuters to and from the PATH station.
