A new LA Fitness has opened its doors in Monmouth County, where it has backfilled a 34,000-square-foot space at the former site of an A&P supermarket.
Basser Kaufman, the owner of Aberdeen Plaza in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, announced Thursday the debut of the new facility at 325 Route 35. The chain is operating under a 15-year lease with the Woodmere, New York-based landlord, joining other tenants at the 74,941-square-foot shopping center including Jersey Mike’s, Domino’s and H&R Block.
“This gorgeous new club will attract the attention of fitness- and health-conscious consumers and attract them on a daily basis to our Plaza,” said Robert Goldfeder, director of leasing for Basser Kaufman. “The fanfare at the ribbon-cutting showed how excited the community is with this new addition.”
LA Fitness opened the new Signature Club location on Oct. 1, the landlord said, noting the facility is complying with all New Jersey COVID-19 guidelines. The upscale format offers higher-level equipment, classes and personal training, as well as resort-style amenities including a full-size basketball court, an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room, a whirlpool spa, towel service and toiletries.
“This beautiful club is a welcome addition to the Route 35 corridor and should emerge as a major destination for residents of Aberdeen’s Cliffwood and Cliffwood Beach sections, and other parts of the township, as well as nearby towns like Keyport and Matawan,” Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini said.
