A new Aldi supermarket has opened its doors in a revitalized shopping center in Hazlet, following a lease arranged by brokers with The Goldstein Group.
The retail real estate services firm said the grocer occupies about 21,400 square feet at Hazlet Town Center, which sits at 3010-3054 Route 35. Ownership, a joint venture of Onyx Equities, Siguler Guff and Abrams Realty & Development, attracted the chain after acquiring the center in 2016 and kicking off plans to reposition the property.
The Goldstein Group Executive Vice President Lew Finkelstein and Vice President CJ Huter brokered the lease in conjunction with Brian Wherty of Equity Retail Brokers.
“The property was purchased in 2016 with the intent of redeveloping the well-located shopping center and there has been tremendous interest in the former Kmart and Pathmark boxes since,” said Chuck Lanyard, president of the Paramus-based brokerage. “Lew and CJ have worked with the owners to provide a strategy in re-tenanting the property with new retailers and restaurants.
“Aldi recently opened its new prototypical design store and other deals are to be announced shortly.”
