OUR CLIENTS
Our clients are a diverse-yet-sophisticated group that understands the importance of the engineering infrastructure. Corporations such as NBCUniversal, BMW, NBA, CBS, ABC, Eisai, Panasonic, ICIMS and Integra recognize the importance of AMA’s service and expertise needed to enhance the creative office landscape. Developers such as SJP Properties, Mack-Cali, Hugo Neu, Ironstate and Roseland Residential appreciate the ‘think like a developer’ mentality along with the relentless focus on client service. Educational institutions such as Monmouth College, Stevens, FDU and St. Joseph’s all desire AMA’s straightforward cost-conscious design approach. And other specialty institutions such as Seeing Eye Dog, West Side Presbyterian Church, St. Vincent’s Church and Madison YMCA recognize the ‘gentle touch’ that AMA brings to these types of budget sensitive projects.
OUR ADVANTAGE
Founded in 2000 in NYC, we made a commitment in 2005 to be ‘in’ the NJ market, and we have grown organically since by following our mantra of obsessive client service which we couple with a high degree of individual accountability and principal involvement on every project. We then added unique services to the core design platform, via the creation of our Design-Build group that provides turnkey implementation services for engineering-centric projects, along with our recent merger of Triad Consulting Engineers and Gavan-Graham, both of which enhance our electrical expertise to include high-voltage systems and solar arrays, along with our ability to manufacture some of what we specify. These unique add-on services set us apart considerably from any of our competitors and allows for innovative designs and cost effective solutions.
ON THE HORIZON
Despite the lingering effects of the pandemic, AMA has some extraordinary projects on the horizon, many of them relating to the ‘gold rush’ to develop Hollywood sound stage and backlot facilities throughout the state. AMA is uniquely situated for these types of projects having designed 50+ sound stages in NYC, NJ, Miami and Los Angeles. In addition, AMA continues to strengthen our position in the residential market with several new high-rise mixed-use projects on the Jersey City waterfront. Our portfolio of interior projects is poised for resumption of growth, many of which are opting to implement Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) Lighting and other smart building solutions, for which our low voltage group (TM Technology Partners) has designed 2.5MM SF of POE lighting and smart building solutions for the likes of Skadden, KKR, Pfizer and PineBridge.
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
Kearny Point Building 78 and Annex. STUDIOS and AMA, having teamed for 10 years at Chelsea Market in NYC, teamed once again in 2016 with owner Hugo Neu to work on the adaptive reuse of this 130-acre property into a commercial office complex. In 2020, we completed work on the 90,000-square-foot Annex, which abuts the larger Building 78. Like its neighbor, the Annex features bright interiors and a restrained palette of corrugated metal and glass. Unlike Building 78, which functioned as a warehouse, the single-story Annex was essentially an outdoor building. To raise the space to the energy code required of offices, the structure had to be refitted with a new window system and its perimeter walls reinforced with insulation along with new high-efficiency HVAC systems (VRF) that complemented the architecture.
