Development firm AMS Acquisitions has taken the wraps off a new 96-unit luxury apartment complex in East Brunswick, in the latest addition to its portfolio in the region.
Known as Summerhill Gardens, the property at 377 Summerhill Road is about a mile west of Route 18. The developer recently announced the launch of leasing at the collection of one- and two-bedroom homes, where monthly rents range from $2,400 to $3,150.
“AMS was immediately attracted to this project due its location at the corner of a major intersection in town, proximity to retail and shopping and the strong community in which it is based,” said Ari Mitnick, AMS’ director of acquisitions. He noted that the site is directly across from a ShopRite-anchored retail center and is adjacent to Frost Woods, a protected forest with popular hiking trails and recreational activities.
The Fort Lee-based firm purchased the seven-acre development site, at the intersection of Summerhill and Old Stage roads, in summer 2021, for roughly $5 million. The resulting project, designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, is a complex of four three-story buildings with amenities such as a central clubhouse with a fitness center, a tenant lounge, a children’s playground and an outdoor patio and dining area, among others.
Batya Cohen of Floorplay designed the upscale apartment interiors, according to a news release. Residents will be minutes from both the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, as well as the vast retail and dining options along Route 18.
The deal follows AMS’ recent completion of a 136-unit, age-restricted community in Sayreville, the news release said. The firm is also planning projects in Monmouth, Burlington and Westchester counties.
