The strength of the New Jersey Apartment Association was on display this week as its members joined some four dozen lawmakers for the organization’s annual legislative reception.
Hosted by NJAA’s political action committee, the event in West Orange drew 150 guests who secured coveted face time with members of the state Senate and Assembly. That included high-ranking legislative leaders from both parties from all corners of the state, many of whom are regulars at a gathering that draws an average of three to four dozen legislators.
The must-attend event has taken place at the Pleasantdale Chateau for the past eight years.
“It is the only event where partisan politics is left at the door, and legislators can just be people discussing ideas and learning about our industry,” said David Brogan, executive director and CEO of the New Jersey Apartment Association.

Attendees included NJAA members from across the multifamily sector, including market-rate and affordable housing owners, managers and developers, as well as suppliers. The organization’s members own and manage more than 240,000 apartments.
“The NJAA PAC supports legislators that understand the multifamily industry and the role we play in New Jersey, from housing, to jobs, to our state’s economy,” said Nicholas Kikis, executive director of the NJAA PAC. “We try to create an environment that facilitates meaningful discussions in a relaxed atmosphere.”
