Atkins Cos. and Denholtz have completed the first phase of a plan to upgrade a 490,000-square-foot office building in Westchester County that the firms acquired in 2023.
In a news release last month, the firms said that initial work at the Medical Offices at Chappaqua Crossing, located in the Chappaqua section of New Castle, New York, took place throughout the property’s common areas and included new LED lighting, ceilings, flooring, lobby furniture, paint and wallpaper and moss wall coverings. They added that a $6 million, multiphase HVAC renovation project is underway at the site at 480 North Bedford Road, with new chillers and controls having already been completed and new boiler controls installed, bringing the building off high-pressure steam.
Several large heating and air conditioning systems are currently being replaced as of late March, the firms said. Once completed, the HVAC upgrades will bring about substantial energy efficiencies, resulting in a reduction of more than $1.5 million in utility and labor costs each year.
The Medical Offices at Chappaqua Crossing is part of Chappaqua Crossing, a new-look campus spearheaded by Atkins and Denholtz’s at the former Reader’s Digest global headquarters off the Saw Mill River Parkway.
“Strategic capital improvements are central to our investment strategy, not just at the Medical Offices at Chappaqua Crossing, but across our entire portfolio,” said Cory Atkins, principal at Atkins Cos. “We are excited to complete these renovations and further position the property as a hub for the region’s health care systems.”
