Malas Development has leased more than 50 percent of a new 256-unit luxury apartment building in Teaneck, hitting a key milestone in the first phase of a larger redevelopment project.
Known as The Marq Teaneck, the six-story property hit the market earlier this year, offering a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans, upscale amenities and a location that is less than five miles from the George Washington Bridge. That has fueled strong traffic at the building at 329 Alfred Ave., where monthly rents start from $2,495.
More than 100 residents had moved in as of mid-April.
“The Marq has resonated strongly with savvy renters from Bergen County and beyond,” said Mark Malas, managing member of Malas Development. “They see great value in living in a brand new building with high-end amenities like an outdoor pool and an outstanding location within walking distance of dining, shopping, retail and many other conveniences.”
Designed by CPA Architecture, The Marq has amenities that also include a sundeck, private kitchens, grilling and dining areas, fire pits and a dog run, according to a news release. Inside, residents have access to coworking spaces, private conference rooms, entertainment lounges and café areas, as well as a high-end fitness center, a pet spa, concierge service, package and grocery lockers, bike storage, private storage rooms and garage parking with electric vehicle charging stations.
Renters are minutes from Teaneck’s Cedar Lane shopping district and downtown Englewood, while Route 4 is just south of the property. NJ Transit buses to New York City are also within walking distance.
Malas said last month that it’s planning a second building on an adjacent parcel that will bring another 248 units. The firm cleared a former industrial building to create the first offering and will do the same for the newest phase, replacing outdated structures and transforming an entire block.
