A renowned modern dance company has leased more than 17,500 square feet at a Secaucus warehouse, where it will use the space to store and build its performance sets.
Avison Young, which represented the tenant, on Tuesday announced Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s lease at 1 County Road. The company is relocating from a site in Long Island City that is currently undergoing redevelopment.
The Avison Young team in the 17,583-square-foot lease included Principal and Tri-State President Arthur J. Mirante II, Senior Vice President Timothy Cadigan, Associate Richard Sullivan and Associate John Recchia. Bill Waxman and Kevin Dudley with CBRE represented Bhasin Properties, the property owner in the transaction.
“Alvin Ailey was seeking the ideal location to serve as a storage and build-out site for both local and international performances that also offered easy access into New York City, where the company is headquartered,” said Mirante, who serves on the board of trustees for the dance company. “We considered various locations, but in the end, Avison Young felt strongly that 1 County Road presented everything our client was looking for: a first-class, spacious warehouse in a Northern New Jersey location that’s a ten-minute train ride into Midtown Manhattan.
“After seeing the site, Alvin Ailey also recognized the value and long-term potential of this move-in ready location and agreed to a 10-year lease commitment.”
