A group of business leaders gathered in West Orange last week to celebrate their peers, as Blue Water Wave held its first-ever awards ceremony for excellence in real estate and other sectors.
The marketing and networking firm welcomed members to the Highlawn on Oct. 12 for a program that featured honorees in seven categories and a speech by David Tyree, the former New York Giants wide receiver and special teams standout. The New Jersey native, best-known for the “Helmet Catch” in Super Bowl XLII in 2008, spoke about the importance of commitment, discipline and accountability and the lessons he learned during his seven years in the NFL, providing a message that translates to the businesses involved with Blue Water Wave.

“Blue Water Wave is a marketing and networking company who introduces you to your next ideal client or center of influence,” said Bridget Sorenson, the firm’s founder and CEO, citing the influence of famous quotes by Warren Buffett and Martin Luther King Jr. “So tonight we celebrate excellence, outstanding character and superior client relations.”
Sorenson presented the awards while reading client testimonials for each honoree, noting that winners were nominated by their peers and reviewed by a committee. She now expects the organization, which holds monthly education and networking events, to host the Wave Awards annually.
“Tonight, I couldn’t be more honored to be in a room with all of you — the nominees, the winners and all of the members of Blue Water Wave,” Sorenson said. “You are an exceptional group, please get to know everybody, this is a class act and I’m proud to be the person that creates your events.”
