BNE Real Estate Group is set to unveil nearly 300 new luxury apartments in South Amboy, marking the first piece of a sweeping redevelopment project along the Raritan Bay.
The developer said the property, Station Bay in South Amboy, will benefit from a waterfront location and its proximity to both the city’s train station and central business district. It’s also adjacent to the site of a planned ferry terminal, providing would-be renters with multiple options for commuter access into Manhattan.
BNE is now preparing to launch leasing at the collection of 291 upscale studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments on Radford Ferry Road.
“After years in the making, we are beyond excited to open our doors at Station Bay, which represents a significant first step in establishing South Amboy as one of New Jersey’s most sought-after residential destinations,” said Jonathan Schwartz, partner at BNE. “We believe that our convenient transit-friendly location, waterfront setting, and amenity-rich lifestyle will quickly resonate with renters from New Jersey and beyond.”
Station Bay is the first major step in the city’s redevelopment of 55 acres between its train station and the Raritan Bay. At a groundbreaking last year, BNE noted that it was also planning a second four-story apartment building at the site, which would bring its footprint there to more than 500 units.
Plans for the broader redevelopment project call for 1,875 new homes, along with the construction of the long-awaited, 20,000-square-foot ferry terminal. The facility will operate up to three ferries between the city’s Raritan Bay waterfront and downtown Manhattan.
In a news release, BNE said Station Bay will have more than 37,000 square feet of amenity spaces such as a lobby lounge with a coffee bar, entertainment lounges, a Matrix fitness center with separate yoga and spin studios and a co-working lounge with private meeting rooms and a smart café, among others. Outside, two sprawling courtyards feature a swimming pool with private cabanas, fire pits, an outdoor bar and private grilling and dining areas.
