A chemical company and a pharmaceutical firm have inked leases at a South Plainfield office building, in a set of transactions brokered by CBRE.
The real estate services firm on Tuesday announced the deals with the tenants, Brenntag Specialties Inc. and Prolong Pharmaceuticals, at 1 Cragwood Road. Brenntag Specialties committed to 16,766 square feet for its North American headquarters, while Prolong extended and expanded to a footprint of 22,000 square feet.
CBRE Vice President Peter N. Shikar represented ownership, Tanzanite Realty LLC, as the leasing agent for the property. The building, also known as Southfield Center, is a 157,530-square-foot, three-story complex off Interstate 287.
Ownership is planning a series of upgrades including a gym, lobby, common areas and bathrooms, CBRE said.
“The property can easily accommodate a range of office space users, from 2,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet,” said Shikar, who is based in CBRE’s East Brunswick office. “With immediate access to Route 287, the property is accessible to the (Garden State) Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Stelton and New Durham Roads and is conveniently located near numerous restaurants, hotels and shopping destinations.”
Brenntag Specialties distributes fine chemicals, minerals, colors and additives worldwide, CBRE said in a news release. The company also offers adhesives, coatings, elastomers and sealants, among several other products.
Meantime, Prolong Pharmaceuticals is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focusing on developing products to treat several diseases and their debilitating comorbidities associated with reduced quality of life, increased medical cost and significant mortality.
Southfield Center features on-site management, food service, daycare, a courtyard and sky-lit lobby with marble and granite finishes, the news release said. Shikar also touted its location 20 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport.
