A clothing and accessories shop has expanded its footprint at the Jersey Shore, opening a new location at the base of an oceanfront condominium building in Asbury Park.
iStar, the developer and owner of the 130-unit Asbury Ocean Club, said Sojourn is its first ground-floor retail tenant at the newly built property. The lifestyle shop at 1101 Ocean Ave. will offer sustainably made and found goods such as clothing, accessories and jewelry by independent designers, as well as handpicked vintage items and farm flowers.
“Asbury Ocean Club not only offers an unparalleled luxury, hospitality-style residential experience, but also community-focused retail experiences in a thoughtful and organic way,” Brian Cheripka, iStar’s senior vice president for land and development, said in a prepared statement. “Sojourn is a perfect addition to Asbury Ocean Club and our ground-floor retail space. They’re a local, Jersey Shore-born business and they offer a very curated and one-of-a-kind retail concept to their clients.”
The business, founded by Stephanie Leopold and Amanda DiRobella, is marking its second brick-and-mortar location. The original shop is in Bradley Beach.
iStar touted the new addition after having sold 50 percent of its homes at Asbury Ocean Club. Designed by Handel Architects and Anda Andrei Design, the property offers one- to three-bedroom floorplans and duplex penthouses with private roof decks.
All units offer private ocean view terraces and upscale interiors, according to a news release. Amenities include an oceanfront pool, a poolside bar and grill and an outdoor fireplace and lounge, along with a fitness center, a spa and other facilities.
Sitting atop the Asbury, a high-end 54-room hotel that opened in 2019, the condo building is part of a high-profile, $300 million redevelopment along the city’s beachfront.
