Denholtz Associates has welcomed its latest retail tenant in Clark with the opening of a new 1,400-square-foot Jersey Mike’s Subs store, the developer announced this week.
Executives with the firm joined local officials and representatives of the sandwich chain to unveil the new location at 301 Central Ave. The operator joins several other tenants at the 13,142-square-foot retail property, part of the Clark Commercial Center that Denholtz acquired in October 2015 under a joint venture with MB1 Capital Partners.
Gary Krauss of Pierson Commercial represented Jersey Mike’s in the lease.
“For nearly three years we’ve been implementing our strategy to create a highly desirable property, attracting a variety of established tenants to the flex, office and brand-new retail center to ensure that it would be an asset to the surrounding community,” said Kristine B. Hurlbut, senior vice president of leasing for Matawan-based Denholtz. “We’ve been waiting for this day since we acquired the center in 2015 and are so proud of how the retail space came out.
“The location provides our tenants with the perfect mix of accessibility and daily volume giving them a competitive advantage in today’s retail marketplace while providing residents with convenient access to the great products and services our tenants provide.”
Hurlbut was on hand earlier this week for a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Denholtz CEO Steven Denholtz and Clark Business Administrator John Laezza. Also on hand were Jersey Mike’s Operating Partner Frank Jablonski and Operations Director Richie Maclachlan.
The store is now one of 1,500 Jersey Mike’s locations open or under development nationwide, according to a news release. Other tenants at the new retail center include Waxing the City, CKO Kickboxing, and Trinity Rehab, which are slated to open this summer.
Denholtz and MB1 began construction on the retail complex soon after they acquired the Clark Commercial Center, a 10-building property totaling 283,201 square feet along Terminal Avenue.
The campus is located just off Exit 135 of the Garden State Parkway and a short distance from the New Jersey Turnpike.
