Valley National Bank has tapped one of its longtime lenders and managers as the new head of its commercial real estate department.
The Wayne-based bank said this week that it has appointed Christopher J. Coiley to the position, his latest in nearly three decades with the company. In his new role, he will be responsible for the management of all commercial mortgage relationships in the New Jersey and New York markets.
Coiley joined Valley in 1990 as part of the bank’s management training program, according to a news release. Upon completion of the program, he worked in the commercial lending group for several years before joining the commercial real estate group.
He then managed a real estate team in New Jersey prior to his appointment as the New York commercial real estate division head six years ago.
“Chris has a proven record of producing outstanding results for Valley in the commercial real estate space,” said Thomas Iadanza, senior executive vice president with Valley. “Given his impressive track record, this promotion to department head is a natural progression for Chris.
“As a hands-on lender and leader, his knowledge of both the New York and New Jersey markets will support the continued growth of the bank and serve its clientele accordingly.”
Coiley received a bachelor’s in accounting from St. Bonaventure’s University.
Valley National Bancorp has more than $29 billion in assets.
