An executive with Dermody Properties’ regional team in Morristown has risen to the role of partner after less than four years with the development and investment firm.
Robert Borny, who joined Dermody in October 2017, previously held the position of senior vice president of capital deployment in the east region. His new title took effect July 1, the company said, noting that he manages land and building acquisitions, build-to-suit projects, development activities and asset management in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, New York, Maryland and Virginia.
“In the three and a half years he’s been with Dermody Properties, Rob has sourced more than 1 million square feet of new developments and acquisitions between three projects, quickly demonstrating his ability to source and execute transactions consistent with our strategy,” said Gene Preston, east region partner at Dermody. “His experience, execution and relationships will continue to benefit our customers, investors and the company.”
Borny came to the Reno, Nevada-based company from HFF, where he was a director who was responsible for sourcing and marketing industrial investment property sales, according to a news release. He became a Certified Commercial Investment Member in October 2011 and has more than a decade of experience in the industrial real estate development and investment industries.
Dermody noted that, in 2020, Borny was named a GlobeSt.com Fifty Under 40 award recipient.
“I am thrilled to take this next step in my career with Dermody Properties,” Borny said. “The company provides a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes a culture of best-in-class, customer-focused service, and it’s been a pleasure to work alongside some of the smartest in logistics real estate over the past three and a half years. I look forward to stepping into this role and to what’s next to come for Dermody Properties, our investors and our customers.”
Borny is a member of NAIOP, the Urban Land Institute and the Industrial & Office Real Estate Brokers Association.
“Rob has made exemplary contributions to our company-wide strategy and he has played a key role in growing our portfolio in the east region,” said Douglas A. Kiersey Jr., president of Dermody Properties. “We look forward to his continued success and are pleased to support his career growth with this much-deserved promotion.”
