Manhattan Building Co. has unveiled the latest piece of a large redevelopment area in Jersey City, opening the doors to a 377-unit complex known as SoHo Lofts.
The developer on Wednesday joined Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop to mark the opening of the community at 273 16th St., which sits just south of Hoboken and west of the Holland Tunnel. The property consists of separate 14-story and 21-story buildings connected by a five-story podium, which houses the community’s lobby, amenities and enclosed parking garage.
Occupancy is beginning this month, as the builder offers industrial-inspired living with a range of one- to four-bedroom units. Monthly rents begin in the $2,000s, while City Homes and Gardens is overseeing a leasing effort that is now underway.
The complex off Jersey Avenue is a block from another Manhattan Building Co. property, known as Cast Iron Lofts, which has brought 387 units to the neighborhood over the past two years.
“The initial phase of SoHo West, the Cast Iron Lofts Collection, put this neighborhood on the map and is now home to more than 800 residents,” said Louis Mont, chief operating officer of Hoboken-based Manhattan Building Co. “We’re incredibly excited to move forward in further establishing the community with the launch of Soho Lofts, which will introduce an even higher level of urban luxury with condo-style interior finishes, cutting-edge and modern indoor and outdoor amenities combined with a chic, contemporary lifestyle.”

SoHo West refers to the property’s location alongside Hoboken and west of New York City. At SoHo Lofts, apartments feature 10-foot ceilings and high-end finishes, while residents have access to amenities such as an Infinity edge pool, private cabanas, surround sound media room, Zen garden, club room and others.
“The luxury and comfort found inside these residences are what separates Soho Lofts from the competition,” said Audrey Spina, director of leasing. “These apartments are larger than those found in rental buildings along the Jersey City and Hoboken waterfront, and in areas like Brooklyn, at a price point that offers considerable consumer value.”
The developer offers free daily shuttle service to nearby PATH stations and NY Waterway ferry terminals. The building is also minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike extension.
