A new boutique hotel with a distinctive Monopoly-inspired design is coming to Atlantic City under a project that could break ground in the months ahead.
Its developer, RMS Capital, said the property known as The Top Hat at The Orange Loop will include six rooms for up to 12 guests and 1,400 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, breathing new life into a vacant site at 215 South Tennessee Ave. And it will likely be hard to miss, featuring a prominent top hat on its roof as part of a design that pays homage to the iconic Atlantic City-based board game, while establishing it as a destination in the area.
The firm, which expects to break ground in the first quarter of 2025, aims to continue the momentum for a neighborhood that is just off the city’s iconic Boardwalk and has welcomed new restaurants and nightlife spots.
“The Top Hat at The Orange Loop is a game changer for Atlantic City. We’re not just building a structure — we’re creating a space that will serve as a landmark for residents and visitors alike,” said Mark Callazzo, managing partner of RMS Capital. “The Orange Loop has come a long way from its ‘dead zone’ days, and this project represents the next step in its evolution. It’s about revitalizing the area, supporting local businesses, and offering unique experiences that drive tourism and economic growth. The Top Hat is more than a building; it’s a symbol of Atlantic City’s resilience and innovation.”
According to RMS, plans also call for a rooftop deck with sweeping views of Atlantic City. The commercial space, meantime, will provide opportunities for local businesses seeking to join the Orange Loop’s burgeoning corridor of restaurants, nightlife and entertainment venues.
The developer expects the Top Hat motif and vibrant architecture to generate increased foot traffic, drawing visitors eager to snap photos and explore nearby establishments, according to a news release. The property will also cater to modern tourism trends, offering concierge services to guests that encourage exploration of Atlantic City’s diverse dining, entertainment and cultural options both inside and outside of the casino scene.
“Atlantic City is a resilient and diverse community, and this project reflects my belief in its bright future,” Callazzo said. “From supporting local entrepreneurs to providing a unique space for visitors to stay and explore, The Top Hat is about investing in the people and businesses that make Atlantic City such a special place.”
