Doren Development has received approval to build another Starbucks in New Jersey, this time in Monmouth County, where it will redevelop a former bank branch off Route 36.
The Passaic-based firm said it aims to begin construction by year-end at 1500 Union Ave. in Union Beach, following the recent vote by local officials. Its plans call for repurposing the former Bank of America location for a full café that will include drive-thru service.
The Aug. 28 approval came a month after Doren and a partner, the Manzo Organization, detailed plans to build out a Starbucks on Route 46 East in Totowa. The firms are repurposing a former Sonic drive-in, with completion slated for early 2025.
“Investing in a prime piece of real estate and having Starbucks as a tenant in a thriving community, it’s not just about location — it’s about visibility, foot traffic and the guaranteed draw of a beloved brand,” Doren Development’s Rick Doren Jr. said after the most recent approval.
