A new Starbucks is coming to Route 46 East in Totowa as part of a recently approved project by Doren Development.
The property, which sits between Riverview Drive and Union Boulevard, is home to a former Sonic drive-in that the partnership plans to repurpose. The development team secured an approval from the borough’s planning board on July 10, having also locked down approval from the state Department of Transportation.
The firm expect to complete the project at 244 Route 46 East in the first quarter of 2025.
“We’re excited to breathe new life into this vacant property and bring a high-demand brand like Starbucks to the Totowa community,” said Rick Doren Jr., managing partner and president of operations. “This conversion is a great example of smart redevelopment — taking an underutilized site and turning it into something that adds value, jobs and energy back into the area.”
