The Garibaldi Group has hired a veteran broker and consultant who will play a key role in the firm’s efforts to revamp and expand its real estate services platform.
The firm, which is based in Chatham, announced that Michael Staskiewicz has joined its ranks as a managing broker and senior vice president. In the new role, his primary focus will be on recruitment, retention and training of talent at The Garibaldi Group.
Staskiewicz is the firm’s first designated managing broker in its 100-year history, a move that coincides with its recently announced rebrand.
“It is Michael’s unique approach to real estate that makes us excited to have him in this role at this particular time in our industry’s history,” said Jeff Garibaldi, the company’s president. “He is not just a deal maker, but a thinker and someone who questions the status quo. That is the prototype of who we are working to bring on board right now, and we look forward to having Michael here as we evolve with the industry.”
Staskiewicz has worked in strategic advisory roles in corporate real estate for more than 15 years, according to a news release. Most recently, he served as the managing principal of Effective Realty Advisors, a northern New Jersey-based, boutique commercial real estate services firm he founded.
In that position, he focused on helping financial decision makers of midsized companies align their real estate with their business needs in order to increase profits and improve operational performance, the news release said. Prior to Effective Realty Advisors, Staskiewicz spent time at Newmark Knight Frank, The Schultz Organization and Lee & Associates.
As The Garibaldi Group notes, Staskiewicz jokes that he must be “the Goldilocks of real estate,” having built his experience at some of the industry’s largest firms as well as the smallest.
“I’m thrilled to join The Garibaldi Group at this exciting, dynamic time in the company’s history,” he said. “This is a unique opportunity where I’ll be able to align my entrepreneurial spirit with an established, high integrity firm. I look forward to helping lead growth and expansion efforts in the greater NJ/NY/PA commercial real estate market.”
In a recent blog post, Staskiewicz discussed what influenced his move to The Garibaldi Group and what he hopes to achieve at the firm, noting that the landmark Bell Works project in Holmdel played a key role. Garibaldi serves as the office leasing agent for the 2 million-square-foot complex.
