A specialty hockey retailer has opened its doors in Kenilworth after leasing more than 11,000 square feet on Route 22, in a newly announced deal by The Goldstein Group.
Brokers with the firm say Pure Hockey, which has more than 60 U.S. locations, has backfilled the former Clean Land Laundromat store just east of North Michigan Avenue. Its new home at 2480 Route 22 spans 11,340 square feet in a freestanding building, where it’s leasing the space from an owner listed as 2480 Route 22 LLC.
The Goldstein Group Vice President Marc Palestina and President Chuck Lanyard represented the landlord, while Newmark Managing Director Dean Tselepis represented the tenant.
“We’re excited to see Pure Hockey enter the Route 22 market,” Palestina said. “They’ve converted the former laundromat (and) dry cleaner into a modern, clean hockey retail store that will service the Central Jersey hockey community.”
The leasing team noted that Pure Hockey is the largest hockey equipment retailer in the U.S., having started as a small shop in Worcester, Massachusetts. On Route 22, it joins a host of national and regional chain stores such as McDonalds, 7-Eleven, Burger King, Starbucks and Lidl, among many others.
