An Indian supermarket chain has leased 16,000 square feet at a Route 46 shopping center in Clifton, in a newly announced deal by Levin Management Corp.
The commitment by Subzi Mandi, which currently has 10 locations in New Jersey, New York and Texas, brings the 95,000-square-foot Clifton Plaza to full occupancy, LMC said. The new location at 1006 Route 46 will feature the chain’s selection of produce, dairy, spices, frozen and dry food items, along with a bakery and kitchen where fresh breads, curries and other dishes will be produced and prepackaged for sale.
LMC added that a store website, currently under development, will accept online orders.
“Grocery tenants are outstanding traffic drivers and a beneficial component for any shopping center,” LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Kelty said. “Subzi Mandi serves a niche customer base in this marketplace and was drawn to Clifton Plaza’s strong demographics and visible location. The addition of Subzi Mandi is great news both for the property’s in-place tenants and the community at large.”
Kelty arranged the transaction on behalf of property ownership, while Leor Hemo of Vantage Commercial Real Estate represented the tenant. LMC noted that Clifton Plaza, which sits at the Van Houten Avenue intersection, is anchored by Big Lots and includes Blink Fitness, Dollar Tree, Valley Bank and several other national and local tenants.
The property draws 1.5 million visits per year, according to real-time traffic data from Placer.ai., LMC said. It also serves a growing residential population of more than 646,000 within a five-mile radius.
