Asian-American grocery chain H Mart is coming to the American Dream, the latest high-profile addition to the retail and culinary offerings at the sprawling Meadowlands project.
Triple Five Group, the developer of the 3 million-square-foot complex in East Rutherford, announced Wednesday that the upscale grocer will open a market eatery concept at the property that will span more than 35,000 square feet. The location will offer a vast selection of traditional Asian and international food items, while featuring renowned chefs, an on-site bakery and New Jersey’s first “Let Them Talk Bar and Stage” with live music, craft cocktails, entertainment and events.
“At American Dream we look forward to offering guests an incredible, diverse culinary adventure,” said Don Ghermezian, president of American Dream. “We have expertly curated an exceptional blend of food offerings that allow guests to experience something interesting and different in each area of the property. H Mart’s reputation precedes itself, bringing a range of upscale Asian-American grocery items and multiple cuisines to American Dream.”
American Dream announced recently that the massive retail and entertainment complex will open Oct. 25. The project is more than 15 years in the making and has stalled under previous developers and owners, but Triple Five is seemingly poised to bring the property to the finish line.
“H Mart and Market Eatery at American Dream will be New Jersey’s newest food lover’s destination,” said Stacey Kwon, a president with H Mart. “We are creating a new template for the future of Asian food in America — a place to experience the best of what Asia has to offer, discover new flavors or have a taste of home.
“We have many exciting projects in the works and are thrilled to showcase them at American Dream.”
The complex, which sits at the nexus of the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 3 and Route 120, is on track to include more than 15 entertainment offerings, along with more than 450 retail, food and specialty shops. Besides its 16 acres of fully enclosed amusement parks and North America’s first indoor snow sports center, American Dream will have an NHL‐size skating and hockey facility and an Angry Birds 18‐hole miniature golf experience.
