SJP Properties has welcomed Paul Chung as its head of acquisitions, a move that will support its continued growth in the New York and New Jersey region and parts of the Southeast.
According to the firm, Chung comes to the role with more than a decade of experience in real estate acquisitions, development, capital markets and asset management across a broad range of asset classes. They include multifamily, office, retail, industrial and self-storage properties throughout the New York, New Jersey and Southeast markets.
He most recently was head of acquisitions at Quinlan Development Group.
“Paul’s experience leading acquisitions and capital market initiatives makes him an excellent addition to our team and our vision for commercial real estate across the region,” said Steve Pozycki, founder and CEO of SJP Properties. “His expertise will strengthen our efforts as we continue to pursue new development and opportunities, and we’re excited to welcome him aboard.”
SJP, which has developed and acquired more than 30 million square feet of property and completed $6.5 billion in real estate transactions, said Chung joins a team focused on the acquisition and development of Class A office and industrial buildings, residential properties and mixed-use projects across the New York metropolitan area and select Southeast markets. It’s also among the region’s most prominent commercial real estate firms, with deep ties in New Jersey and a vertically integrated platform spanning development, investment, construction and asset management.
With Quinlan Development Group, Chung sourced and underwrote acquisition opportunities, led due diligence and financing efforts and managed investments totaling more than $500 million in equity and debt transactions representing over $1.2 billion in total capitalization, according to a news release. He also originated the firm’s self-storage development platform, established a programmatic joint venture with PGIM and oversaw the full development cycle across six ground-up projects.
“Few developers combine the vision and execution that make SJP Properties one of the pre-eminent leaders in the industry, and its best-in-class developments reflect that,” Chung said. “I’m thrilled to join an organization of this caliber and to bring my diverse background to the team. I look forward to contributing to SJP’s continued growth and success through sourcing new opportunities and executing across the full development cycle.”
Prior to Quinlan, Chung was a partner and director of acquisitions and capital markets at Solomon Builders, where he oversaw acquisition and capital markets strategies, originated new development opportunities and successfully raised and closed more than $92 million in financing across several projects, the news release said. Earlier in his career, he held roles with Wildflower LTD (formerly Madison Development) and Resource Real Estate.
Chung holds a bachelor’s from the University of Pennsylvania.
