Construction is underway on a project that will bring 112 condominiums to Asbury Park as one of the newest infusions of high-end housing along the city’s iconic shoreline.
Its builder, Inspired by Somerset Development, is planning a 2027 completion date for what it says will be a perennial oceanfront destination at 1201 Ocean Ave. That will be the site of what it calls LIDO Asbury Park, where the firm is already seeing strong demand after launching sales in July and having set a record for the highest-priced condo ever sold in New Jersey.
The eight-story building’s mix of one- to four-bedroom homes will range from 970 to more than 3,800 square feet, with many offering private outdoor space and views of the Atlantic Ocean, according to a news release. The condos will complement some 50,000 square feet of resort-style amenity spaces, while residents will be steps from the boardwalk, the beach and a commercial district known for its rich history, vibrant culture and legendary rock and roll roots.
“Asbury Park has become one of the most sought-after beachfront destinations in the country, and LIDO is raising the bar for what luxury living looks like here,” said Ralph Zucker, CEO and president of Inspired by Somerset Development. “Breaking ground represents not only a major milestone for LIDO, but also for the continued transformation of Asbury Park as a place where natural beauty, culture and world-class design meet. We’re thrilled to bring this vision to life.”

Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners spearheaded the project’s design, while Melillo Bauer Carman provided landscape design that sought to capture the essence of seaside living, the news release said. Clodagh Design oversaw interiors, with Corcoran Sunshine leading sales and marketing.
According to the developer, condos will have floor-to-ceiling windows that frame panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Asbury Park landmarks and the bustling boardwalk. Select homes will have oversized terraces, private plunge pools, and enhanced finishes.
“LIDO represents a meaningful moment for Asbury Park as we continue to grow in ways that honor our history while embracing new possibilities,” Asbury Park Mayor John Moor said. “We’re proud to work with Inspired by Somerset Development and are excited to see LIDO bring thoughtful design and year-round vitality to our waterfront.”
Residents, meantime, will have access to amenities including a private park and a saltwater swimming pool with a sun shelf and infinity edge, private cabanas and loungers, an outdoor shower and a fully equipped alfresco dining suite with a built-in kitchen, the news release said. Plans also call for a year-round indoor-outdoor saltwater spa pool with hot and cold plunge pools, a Turkish hammam and Vichy shower, a treatment room and both an indoor and outdoor sauna, as well as an oceanfront fitness center with modern cardio and strength-training equipment and a dedicated studio for yoga, personal training or quiet meditation.

Other indoor spaces include a library lounge with a fireplace, a parlor room, a social lounge and a coworking suite that Inspired said is ideal for remote professionals and creatives, among many others.
“LIDO is the new benchmark for sophisticated coastal living on the Jersey Shore,” said Jodi Stasse, a senior managing director at Corcoran Sunshine. “From the architecture to the wellness-driven amenities and curated design details, every element reflects an uncompromising commitment to quality and a deep respect for the history and character of this iconic city. The market response has been tremendous, underscoring pent-up demand for a luxury, turnkey oceanfront condominium experience in Asbury Park.”
Pricing for LIDO starts at $1.035 million, while select homes will be listed for more than $8 million. Inspired expects the first closings to take place in 2027, which will follow the firm’s late 2023 acquisition of the site from an affiliate of Star Holdings, in conjunction with Starfield Cos.
“LIDO Asbury Park represents a bold step forward in shaping the next chapter of this great city, and this is another significant milestone for our community,” said Brian Cheripka, principal of Starfield Cos. “Asbury Park’s strength has always come from its treasured history, creativity and unmistakable spirit, and more recently, its ability to define the best of oceanfront living. LIDO celebrates this rich tradition while helping shape an even brighter, more vibrant future for everyone who calls this great city home.”
